Dial-up encapsulation protocols - SLIP, PPP, PPTP and L2TP

End-to-end WAN authentication schemes - PAP, SPAP, CHAP and MCSCHAP

Encryption schemes for VPNs e.g. MPPE and MD-5

Frame-Relay attributes - CIR, DLCIs, PVCs, SVCs, LMIs and dynamic mapping

ISDN and DSL schemes; BRI and PRI types; multilink PPP operation and dynamic bandwidth allocation with BAP

HDLC serial long-distance links; synchronisation boxes.

Gigabit ATM characteristics and QoS comp;onents within ATM; fixed-cell switching mechanism.


Computer Network Security Management:

OS - medicated authentication schemes - security databases registries and domains; ticket/token granting mechanisms.

Public-Key-Infrastructure (PKI) certificate-driven schemes; server-side and client-side certificate provision

Boot P Dynamic Host configuration Protocol schemes for dynamically assigning IP addresses; address leases and renewal intervals; Boot P/DHCP relay services across routers.

Name resolution services - DNS, WINS, HOSTS, LMHOSTS and B-node; operational characteristics and relative advantages of each scheme

Network monitors; identifying broadcast storms and determining bandwidth utilization

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) services for inter-platform management
